Who Is Home Team?

In 1986, I became a Realtor. Later, as a single mom, I realized that working from home, as a broker, would be even better. I wanted to emphasize my Richmond roots and commitment to our area so when I told a friend that living here all my life gave my clients the “home team advantage,” Home Team Realtors was born.
Business rules are basic: (1) family comes first, (2) I’ll work anytime except Sunday morning, and (3) the Golden Rule prevails. Rule #1 is simple. Rule #2 is based on priorities as well.
Rule #3: Bernard Savage of Savage & Company told me to “live by the Golden Rule and business would follow.” Treating clients as I want to be treated seems obvious but it’s also my fiduciary responsibility. A Realtor is charged with putting clients’ needs first. Sometimes that’s hard to do. It’s tempting to consider the commission and rationalize your advice or decisions but I have to live with myself. That means forget the money and concentrate on my client’s interests.
I’ve moved furniture, poured bleach down wells, painted houses, and done “clean up or hide mess” missions for clients. Whatever it takes to get the job done. Clients say that I’m the hardest-working agent around. Read statements by my clients (see Testimonials tab) and you’ll realize that you don’t stay in business for nearly 30 years without a good work ethic.
When you work with Home Team Realtors, you’re getting a lifetime of knowledge of the Richmond area, an extended network of services, and an agent you can call anytime with questions, about title insurance, home values or reliable babysitters.
My original “team” was me and the kids. The flowers on my signs symbolize my kids. Patrick was handing out business cards at Grange Hall Elementary and writing down FSBO addresses while riding the school bus. Anne and Molly have done everything from stapling newsletters to helping to stage homes. In time, the Home Team expanded. Like any good team, all of the players are essential for success. You can choose your lender, inspector, etc. but the following are people that I rely on. In nearly 30 years of real estate, I’ve worked with people whose motivation isn’t as strong as mine. I appreciate a good work ethic, professional behavior, experience, and courtesy and my “team” assures me of those qualities in every transaction.
